General Information About Kindergarten

Does Ohio require children to attend kindergarten?

Yes. Ohio law requires children in this state go to kindergarten. Districts cannot admit a child to first grade who has not completed kindergarten unless the district has admitted the child for early entrance to first grade, which means skipping kindergarten.

At what age should my child start kindergarten?

A child must be at least 5 years old to enter kindergarten or 6 years old to enter first grade. Compulsory school age, or the minimum age in which a child must be enrolled in and attend school, is age 6. A family can choose to wait until a child turns 6 before enrolling the child in kindergarten.

How do I know if my child is old enough to enter kindergarten?

Districts choose either Aug. 1 or Sept. 30 as the date by which a child must be 5 years old to enter kindergarten. Each school district should display this information on its website or be able to provide a parent who asks with the district’s age cut-off date for kindergarten.

Grades K – 8:

$5,000 for one child
$6,300 for two children
$6,900 for three children
$7,400 for four or more children


Book Fee:

$250 for Grades K-4

$350 for Grades 5-8

Additional Fees:

Instructional Fee: $75 per child
Registration Fee: $100 per family
Testing Fee: $75 per new student

All fees are due at time of registration.

At the time of registration, all pupils transferring to the Academy from another school must present their health records, and report cards or other evidence of scholastic achievement. To allow us to obtain transcripts from other schools, please download and complete the Transcript Request Form. Birth certificates are required for all new students.

The Directors reserve the right to evaluate the student’s previous school records and to give the student a written test in order to assign the student to the educational level which will assure his best achievement. Final acceptance is subject to the recommendation of the Directors and approval of the Board.

Any student who is accepted for admission to the Academy pledges himself to willingly obey all its regulations and to uphold the Christian principles upon which the Academy has been established.
